Mark 2:13-17 I came to call sinners

 

Most parents in our country usually blame themselves when their children go wrong, saying “It’s all my fault”. Policemen in Korea would console the parents when they hear this, asking them not to blame themselves too much. But in America, they arrest them right away. Sometimes I feel Korean Parents living too Scripturally.

The person we are going to feature today, Matthew, knew he was a sinner and was painful for the fact.

Matthew was a tax collector, making a living by helping the Roman Empire, and thus considered was a traitor. It was said ‘For money, the prostitutes sell their body, but the tax collectors sell their soul and their country’로 , and they were unwelcomed by the other Jew. One day, Jesus came to this tax collector Matthew, and called him. It is said that he

Luke5:28 ‘got up, left everything and followed him.’

What is the reason Matthew called have obey the calling? He would have been deeply moved by the love of Jesus that treats him as a proper person, when he thinks of himself as a wretch.

 

Who has the qualification to have relationship with Jesus? It’s the ones who consider themselves a sinner.

 

The reason we do not want to confess ourselves as sinners is because First, because we want to beutify and protect ourselves, trying not to be seen as a sinner. Second, we do not want to be criticised as sinners. Those who consider themselves a sinner tries to reform himself.

 

There is a pastor named Jack Kyle, living in Chicago, USA. He criticises the sin of man every week. One day a young man who didn’t like his preaching shot a pistol. After that there was a bulletproof shied in front of the altar. But Jack Kyle didn’t stop to criticise sins in preachings. Do you know what was the result?

After Pastor Jack Kyle criticised about sin, problems of each person, family, society and nation were solved. The church was filled and overflowed. It had the biggest Sunday School in the world. The church was so big that it ran 120 bused on Sundays.

Why should sin be considered so seriously? It is because of the following four reasons.

 

1.Because human sin is a theological sin.

Theological sin means the sin of disobeying God and his laws. Modern people refuse to abmit the existence of such sin.

Do you know why one does not feel himself as a sinner and cannot think of one’s sins?

First, because the conscience is paralysed. Second, because of lack of knownledge about sins.

2.Because God even sees the sins of our hearts

God even sees the sins of our hearts.

(렘 17:9-10) “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

"I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

God sees our heart before seeing our behaviours. Befored the flood of Noah, God knew that all plans of human thought were evil. (Genesi 6:5).

 

3.Because the age of knowing sin merely by conscience has ended.

God has given us his special revelation, the Bible.

The Bible shows us the sin that we were not aware of, that were hidden, that were of our hearts.

In Modern times, we have plenty of chances of hearing to the Gospel. When we do not repent even after knowing the Bible, the responsibility is bigger.

 

4.Because sin gives us immensive mental damage.

Sin destroys persons, families, societies and nations. All mental problems have their roots in sins. Anxiety, sleeplessness, powerlessness, depression, complex, loneliness, hate and revenge have their connections to sin in any form.

 

A modern psychologist Mogler diagnosed that Modern people is a kind of human that is ill spiritually and bodily because of the sins that were not atoned. Most reasons for family troubled are also found from sins. Most people in the Western developed countries rely on psychiatrists. It’s because of their sins. Sin is not simple problem

 

5. Sin is not a simple problem, beacause of the final judgement.최후의 심판 때문에 죄는 단순하지 않습니다.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

At 24th of Nov, 1974 there was a fire at Daeyongak hotel. There are so many sins are committed at Christmas Eve. But by the time it was morning, the hotel become a hire hole and a hell of disaster.

If we do not solve the problems of sins, we would head towards this.

Jesus said that the kind of person he would relate with is sinners. We are sinners before our Lord. We have to confess this fact. No matter how, this problem should be solved.

 

Sinless Jesus spilt his precious blood for us. Now God is ready to forgive all our sins. If we received Jesus, no matter how many sins devil list before God, he would say “I have forgiven all kinds of sins”. The blood of Jesus is the precious blood that can wash away all our sins. Any sin can be forgiven. No matter how much sin is committed, it can be forgiven.

 

Even after believing in Jesus Christ we can have the contraction of reverence. It can be inside me, beside me, above me and below me. But these are the processed for us to be in the larger grace and impassion.

Whenever we feel self guiltiness, he tells us “Look at the cross again!”

 

When we experience the impassion of this unconditional forgiveness everyday, we can work for the Lord. I am all the same but God forgives us unconditionally. This is the forgiveness of Christianity. It is after then that we start to have deep appreciations.

 

When we are still anxious, nervous and dissatisfied, it’s because we did not solve our most important problem of sin. Go to th Lord who came to call the sinners. Jesus calls we even in this very moment
